Remembering Dr Martin Luther King Jr 2021

Today is the MLK Holiday 2021. All day long I've watched news reels and community services stories on TV. Every mention clad in black and white photos with staticky audio. Often, Dr King is reduced to being a dreamer. He had a vision, but the story doesn't end there. He was an educated man who married young and started a family. During the time of his pastoral, the Civil Rights Movement took form. As a leader, Dr King saw a world he didn't like and he stepped up to the challenge. He along with many others organized protests to fight the good fight. Dr King stood on his principles and became synonymous with non-violence protests. To this day, The King Center serves as an international hub of non-violent teaching. The strength it took to fight abject racism is more than most could bear. Dr King and his family endured threats, arrests, investigations,  societal backlash, and organizational strife. However, Dr King paid the ultimate price when he was murdered for his beliefs. The work that he did in 39 years of life will never be duplicated but will forever grow. The fight is not over. 2020 and January 2021 has shown us that the world can no longer hold the status quo of racism, sexism, and marginalization.  We must come together to fight a common enemy that poisoned the hearts of many still. I  have a dream too...and I plan to put it in action. Jesus was on this earth for 33 years ago and rules in perpetuity.  Dr King followed the teachings of Jesus, and has left us the path to follow. Are you going down that road? Or will you watch from the sidelines of indifference, privilege and silence? Leave your comments below. Thank you for stopping by. Stay safe and stay healthy.  Take Care and God Bless!!!
