Celebrating Dr King's Birthday 2021
I am still shaken to my core with the news that has occurred in the past couple of weeks. Storming the Capitol Bldg to political foes, threatening violence before the Inauguration, killing innocent people of color at home and on video. Seemingly, there was more coverage of a Happy New Year than this attempted coup. Newscasters have excused and backed down to this criminal enterprise in the White House....until he showed the true evil within. Where have we sunk to as a society? Where are the values we hold to be self evident? What will history say about this place and time? More importantly, what are we going to do about this? Today marks the 92nd birthday of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. He was a man of principle and integrity. Dr King led the Civil Rights Movement to obtain equal treatment of black citizens in this red, white and blue country. He was killed in his prime because dared to make his dream a reality. I could only imagine what kind of "good trouble" he would've gotten into. But I also realize the time has come to finish the course he charted. So where do we go from here? What are the next steps? I started in the only way I knew how.....I VOTED!!! My vote matters as my voice matters. The time has ended for sitting on the side and letting others decide our fate. Our political leaders have lost their way, and they're taking us with them. I refuse to be complicit in this. History may not record my name, but it will recognize the fact that my actions led to a shift in our society. If we strive for true racial equality, inclusion, and diversity, we will make this world a better place. We will all be free and we could all enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am on a new course which allows me to keep running for the mark of the high calling. Our journeys are colliding to fight the good fight of faith. We are going to free ourselves from this bondage and recreate the world around us. Our beliefs. Our ethics. Our morals. Reestablished by our collective sense of right and wrong as we continue to strive to live our best life. The purple life. How has tjese events affected you? What are you planning to do? Please share in the comments below. Thanks for stopping by. Take Care and God Bless!!!
