December 37, 2020: Chaos at the Capitol

One week ago today, it happened. December 37, 2020. The siege. The riot. The insurrection. The coup attempt. Now, it is simply being called the chaos. The US Capitol Bldg was under attack for several hours by armed anti-government militia. Not foreigners but home grown, white US citizens. Most "shocking", they were led into violence by the current occupant of the White House. Multiple news agencies made numerous reports of this historic horror. History will bear the details of the truth and the web of lies concocted ever since. I have been haunted by this display of perceived white privilege and the loss thereof. As a black woman, I immediately thought of the peaceful protesters who faced a militarized response. How could these gangs get close enough to the building...let alone inside. The non-existent security force is leading conspiring theories and investigations. I saw the look on Officer Goodman's face as he and his nightstick attempted the impossible. My mind takes me back to my ancestors who were enslaved, lynched,  and murdered under similar moments of engagement. To this day, no black person or groups of people could express anger towards our government like these privileged thugs. Now that these same criminals are being rounded up and arrested, the propaganda begins. In all the years I've been on this earth, I have never seen such appalling, lawless and reckless behavior. This story is far from over. We have votes, trials, impeachment, and inaugural proceedings to consider. I  write this blog post to dump the poison of this attempted overthrow of the government out of my system. I sat with until today. How are you doing? Are you ok? What angle of this event stuck out for you? How are you coping with this spectacle? Share your comments below.  Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe and stay healthy. Take Care and God Bless!!!
