My Happy Birthday: Pandemic 2021

Happy birthday to me!!! This particular day will remain special fue to the coronavirus  and the 10 inches of snow that fell in Chicago. Special shout out to all the January babies and all my J31 twins. I found my tribe of Aquarius groups and Prince fans on Facebook. The love and acceptance these folks have shown is truly astounding and absolutely affirming. January is the start of the new year which helps with reflective thinking. I took a few days from blogging to truly focus on what I want to accomplish this year. It's time to take things to the next level. I've expanded my social media platforms, and more content is coming soon. I love giving advice and coaching others on their career goals. Now I must navigate doing this while moving forward on my personal and professional brand. There's so much I want to accomplish in life while earning, learning and growing. I have had a seven fold plan in my mind that I need to put in writing with actionable steps. 2020 taught me that you can't rely on being here tomorrow so do what you can do today. Pace yourself but keep it moving. Don't be uninspired but realize when you're tired. Nothing wrong with a pause, just don't quit. You don't want to look at 2022, 2023  etc and be stuck in the same place. How about you? How many things have you dreamed of doing? How many years have you dreamt the same things? When are you going to act on it? What will it take to move forward? Who is supporting you and your dream? Can you monetize it? How will you chart your progress? I ask these questions as the answers will be the foundation of your next venture. As I get my journey back on track, I'll share some tips with you. We have to shape the world post COVID-19 into the economy where we thrive while we survive. If Reddit can upset the Wall St geniuses, we to can band together and make the change.
Let's use our creativity and initiatives that God has purposed us for to do His work. We can achieve what we believe. After you review these questions, let's compare notes. Let's hold each other accountable. Let's continue our journey together striving for the mark of the high calling. We still have the opportunity live our best life. The purple life. Inspired Words That Moved The World

Say her name....Amanda Gorman. This 22 year old black woman is the youngest Poet Laureate to perform at a Presidential Inauguration. This history Maker stepped onto the world stage and rocked it to its core. Her words "The Hill We Climb"" were created to bring unity to our country and heal the land. Amanda states that she was tapped to perform on Dec 30th, and wished she had more time to practice. It's funny looking back to think of what additional practice would have done for her performance. God's timing is perfect. He knew what he blessed this young woman with, and He moved on her behalf. Each generation looks to the youth to carry the baton for the next leg of the human race. When looking at extraordinary creatives like Amanda Gorman, our future feels secure. Ms Gorman has been quoted many times as wanting to run for President when she's old enough to do so. As a Harvard graduate,  she has definitely built a foundation from which to grow. I look forward to her platform to be defined, and she can count on my vote when the time comes. We can look to the youth and encourage their dreams. Mentors help mold young energy into focused action. God creates connections to do His divine will. Ms Gorman even stated that she "can dream of becoming president only to find herself reciting for one." during her historic presentation. As we move along life's journey, we must find inspiration where we can. We must also be the inspiration for those who knowingly or unknowingly follow in our footsteps. There are so many moments from this inauguration that sparked inspiration for me that will take several posts to review. Which moments inspired you? What do you recall from this history making event? Sisters are doing it for themselves

The 59th Inauguration this week has not disappointed. America breathed a sigh of relief at the peaceful transition of power. They also rejoiced at the stellar performances that crossed party lines and symbolized unity. The Bernie meme is hilarious, but other photos captured a subtle nod of recognition. The exchange between Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris is burning up the internet. These queens greeted each other in a matter of seconds, but it goes back to common courtesy. I am from Cleveland, and it is customary to give a head nod or hello when you pass another black person. It lets the other person know that I see you and I acknowledge your existence. I've done this all my life and I've been labelled as too friendly. To me, strangers are friends you haven't met yet. However, these photos captured so much more. Kamala greets our #Forever44 #FLOTUS Michelle Obama with the love, grace and respect of meeting American royalty. Michelle, in turn, points to our first African American,  South Pacific woman Vice President. She seemingly coordinates Kamala to her place in history,, and focuses the attention back to Madame Vice President. So often, reality tv, social media, and newscasters try to pit women against each other. These two queens quashed that narrative before it even started. And there are legions of black women who stand tall and proud behind them. Truth be told, I'm rooting for everyone who is black. May the grace of God cover us as we move forward as a people. There's a great work to do, and sisters are doing it for themselves. We've carried the burden of fixing messes we didn't create, but we do it so well that it's an expectation.  This moment in time is excellence personified and extrinsic motivation. So what are you motivated to do? How did the inauguration affect you? Share your comments below.  Thanks for stopping by. Stay safe and stay healthy.  Take Care and God Bless!!!

Women Of Power In Color

Stunning. Vibrant. Bold. Cinched.Snatched. Striking. Brilliant. The women who were highlighted during the 59th Inauguration ceremonies have splashed across the screens and sparked a frenzy on social media. Nothing wrong with the fashion, even Lady Gaga outfit. But there are so many meanings to the choices made. Kamala's purple ensemble was a flashpoint for the day. She stood out as an individual in the massive crowd. Purple is a rare color that signifies power, royalty, consistency, steadfastness, and wisdom. In 2020, purple represents the political mixing of blue and red, or unity. Madame Vice President Kamala Harris selected a black designer and she wore pearls to represent her sorority. This was a nod to Shirley Chisholm, the first black woman to run for President. As the first woman to hold this powerful role, she sent a clear message that she was prepared and ready to serve our nation in this capacity. Dr Jill Biden chose a blue silhouette for her attire to reflect Democratic values. Her poise and strength came shining through as she supports our newest President. However, Former First Lady Michelle Obama slayed any competition.  Her burgandy/oxblood suit with gold accessories was splendid, extravagant, and breathtaking. Michelle exuded confidence walking hand in hand with her husband, my Forever President Barack Obama. All hailed the Queen of White Houuse fashion, the greatest of all time who broke the rules and rewrote the role of FLOTUS.  These women made sure that they leaned in to the political fray and persevered. They fight the good fight and clear the path for future leaders to follow. The inspiration these ladies generated for little girls and boys will positively impact our future. It is up to us to bsnd together and move this country forward. The work begins NOW. What are you prepared to do? Share your comments below.  Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe and stay healthy. Inauguration Day 2021

Jesus wept. And today, I wept. Profusely. The inauguration ceremonies for President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris were filled with history and nostalgia. The overriding theme was hope for the future. There were so many moments with so many gems dropped. It was a feast for eyes sore from four (4) years of fake news, pillaging, nepotism, segregationist, racist, and misogyny based policies. These ceremonies were diverse and inclusive. COVID-19  has trained us to shelter in place and participation virtually. These exclusive events now opened up to the general public. We each have our place in history.  We witnessed the transfer of power up close and personal. Politicos from the past, present and future added to the pomp and procession. They projected the imagery of strength, unity, and dignity. President Biden wasted no time signing 15 executive orders into existence. These orders help to reverse the reversal of policies from the previous administration.  It was too much to write in one blog post. Watch for my series on the shift this Presidency will hopefully have on our society. I cried. I laughed. I leaned in. And I observed. Did you watch it live? Are you reviewing the news reels? What did you think? Share your comments below.  Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe and stay healthy. Take Care and God Bless!!!

Inauguration Eve 2021

Anticipation is making me wait. Tomorrow is the 56th Inauguration of the President of the United States. So much history will be made. The most militarized event due to the rioters and their attempted efforts to overthrow the Congress at the Capitol Bldg. The loser outgoing occupant will not concede or attend the festivities he embraced four years ago. The first female, african American, South Pacific Vice President will be sworn in. I am seeing the changes in administration, integrity, policy, and participation. The diversity is matched with the inclusivity of the President Elect. Tonight, there will be live stream events for blacks,Llatinos, and asians recognizing the electoral efforts they've put forth. In particular,  I'm looking forward to the performances from my hometown heroes, the O'Jays, and my favorite DJ D-Nice. My hope and prayer is that we get this country out of the chaos and conflicts that have plagued us these last four years. We have survived the worst administration in my lifetime. We also survived the worst calendar years ever experienced. My new year always starts on January 31stπŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽŠπŸŽˆπŸŽˆπŸŽˆπŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ but now my vision is clear from the stress of unstable leadership. What are your thoughts on the transition of power? Joy? Happiness? Dread? Apprehension? Share your comments below.  Thank you for stopping by. Stay safe and stay healthy.  Take Care and God Bless!!!

Remembering Dr Martin Luther King Jr 2021

Today is the MLK Holiday 2021. All day long I've watched news reels and community services stories on TV. Every mention clad in black and white photos with staticky audio. Often, Dr King is reduced to being a dreamer. He had a vision, but the story doesn't end there. He was an educated man who married young and started a family. During the time of his pastoral, the Civil Rights Movement took form. As a leader, Dr King saw a world he didn't like and he stepped up to the challenge. He along with many others organized protests to fight the good fight. Dr King stood on his principles and became synonymous with non-violence protests. To this day, The King Center serves as an international hub of non-violent teaching. The strength it took to fight abject racism is more than most could bear. Dr King and his family endured threats, arrests, investigations,  societal backlash, and organizational strife. However, Dr King paid the ultimate price when he was murdered for his beliefs. The work that he did in 39 years of life will never be duplicated but will forever grow. The fight is not over. 2020 and January 2021 has shown us that the world can no longer hold the status quo of racism, sexism, and marginalization.  We must come together to fight a common enemy that poisoned the hearts of many still. I  have a dream too...and I plan to put it in action. Jesus was on this earth for 33 years ago and rules in perpetuity.  Dr King followed the teachings of Jesus, and has left us the path to follow. Are you going down that road? Or will you watch from the sidelines of indifference, privilege and silence? Leave your comments below. Thank you for stopping by. Stay safe and stay healthy.  Take Care and God Bless!!!

Dreams of My Father: MLK Sunday 2021

Reflections of 2020 are flowing into 2021. As we watch the fallout of the "Chaos in the Capitol", we get a chance to review what's important in life. Looking at this photo of Martin Luther King Jr with his family, you see humanity. You see love. You see pride. Almost every father I know wants the best for their offspring. They work their hardest to provide the base from which their children grow. Dr King was assassinated at the age of 39, but he imparted a legacy of civil rights and civil service for his family. His wife, children, and granddaughter have all taken their own path to honor their father. They also used their own gifts and talents to create entities that work to serve others. Dr King led the modern day Civil Rights Movement, but he also instilled the values in his family that outlived him. Isn't that the goal parents? Don't you want to leave the world better for your kids? Dont you want the world free of disease and disparities? Don't you want to live long enough to see your dreams come to fruition? Dr King gave his "Mountain Top" speech the night before he was killed. He knew he might not get there, but he had the faith that things would get better. It's sad that the riot disguised militia stormed the Capitol because it ripped the covers up racist ideologies. But now is the time for change. If nothing else, stand in your truth. Don't let the lies win or fake news flood your inlets. Dr King told us that "For evil to succeed, all it needs is for good men to do nothing". So do something.  Move something. Vote. Organize. Take the time to tell your truth and live your life. Let's level up together as we continue on life's journey.  So what are you prepared to do? What are the dreams you want to achieve? Please share your comments below. Thanks for stopping by.  Take Care and God Bless!!!

Take some time to laugh about it

Times are definitely changing...and at a rapid pace. Do you get a chance to savor the moment? Can you recall any good experiences in your life? 2020 was a tough patch in life's journey, but it wasn't all bad. In celebrating the MLK Birthday weekend, more stories and images have been unearthed. This picture struck me very hard. Dr King is always portrayed as a serious Civil Rights leader brooding over the seriousness of the cause. To see him and Harry Belafonte engagedin such laughter is shape shifting. It adds to Dr King humanity and his sense of balance and wellbeing.  Oftentimes, people want to display a hard facade of strength and steadfastness. In reality, we are the sum of all experiences. Good vs bad and Happy vs sad. Even with the violence reported in the news, there are sympathetic stories broadcast as well. Those celebrities we love and respect have touched us with their ability. Their display of openness, availability, and vulnerability has touched us in some way.  Many imitations are available but the heart knows what it is attracted to. We need to enjoy the moments of the journey while we're on the road to achieve our goals. So are you Happy doing what you're doing now? Will you achieve success and joy while working towards the target?Or is it time to adjust? What would Dr King say? Please share your comments below.  Thanks for stopping by.  Take Care and God Bless!!!

Celebrating Dr King's Birthday 2021

I am still shaken to my core with the news that has occurred in the past couple of weeks.  Storming the Capitol Bldg to political foes, threatening violence before the Inauguration, killing innocent people of color at home and on video. Seemingly, there was more coverage of a Happy New Year than this attempted coup.  Newscasters have excused and backed down to this criminal enterprise  in  the White House....until he showed the true evil within. Where have we sunk to as a society? Where are the values we hold to be self evident? What will history say about this place and time? More importantly,  what are we going to do about this? Today marks the 92nd birthday of Dr Martin Luther King Jr. He was a man of principle and integrity. Dr King led the Civil Rights Movement to obtain equal treatment of black citizens in this red, white and blue country. He was killed in his prime because dared to make his dream a reality. I could only imagine what kind of "good trouble" he would've gotten into. But I also realize the time has come to finish the course he charted. So where do we go from here? What are the next steps? I started in the only way I knew how.....I VOTED!!! My vote matters as my voice matters. The time has ended for sitting on the side and letting others decide our fate. Our political leaders have lost their way, and they're taking us with them. I refuse to be complicit in this. History may not record my name, but it will recognize the fact that my actions led to a shift in our society.  If we strive for true racial equality,  inclusion, and diversity,  we will make this world a better place.  We will all be free and we could all enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  I am on a new course which allows me to keep running for the mark of the high calling.  Our journeys are colliding to fight the good fight of faith. We are going to free ourselves from this bondage and recreate the world around us.  Our beliefs. Our ethics. Our morals. Reestablished by our collective sense of right and wrong as we continue to strive to live our best life. The purple life.  How has tjese events affected you? What are you planning to do? Please share in the comments below.  Thanks for stopping by.  Take Care and God Bless!!!

December 37, 2020: Chaos at the Capitol

One week ago today, it happened. December 37, 2020. The siege. The riot. The insurrection. The coup attempt. Now, it is simply being called the chaos. The US Capitol Bldg was under attack for several hours by armed anti-government militia. Not foreigners but home grown, white US citizens. Most "shocking", they were led into violence by the current occupant of the White House. Multiple news agencies made numerous reports of this historic horror. History will bear the details of the truth and the web of lies concocted ever since. I have been haunted by this display of perceived white privilege and the loss thereof. As a black woman, I immediately thought of the peaceful protesters who faced a militarized response. How could these gangs get close enough to the building...let alone inside. The non-existent security force is leading conspiring theories and investigations. I saw the look on Officer Goodman's face as he and his nightstick attempted the impossible. My mind takes me back to my ancestors who were enslaved, lynched,  and murdered under similar moments of engagement. To this day, no black person or groups of people could express anger towards our government like these privileged thugs. Now that these same criminals are being rounded up and arrested, the propaganda begins. In all the years I've been on this earth, I have never seen such appalling, lawless and reckless behavior. This story is far from over. We have votes, trials, impeachment, and inaugural proceedings to consider. I  write this blog post to dump the poison of this attempted overthrow of the government out of my system. I sat with until today. How are you doing? Are you ok? What angle of this event stuck out for you? How are you coping with this spectacle? Share your comments below.  Thanks for stopping by.  Stay safe and stay healthy. Take Care and God Bless!!!

Write The Vision.....Make It Plain

"And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it." This verse has been quoted and used for a multitude of reasons. Mainly, folks use these words to formulate plans and processes.  To me, it's more about preservation. Many great ideas are lost because no one captured the moment. The greatest collection of good ideas is in the graveyard. So many people abandon their dreams to work within their reality. I must admit, I have my vision five (5) years ago today. God gave me a vision that I buried in my heart. I protected it and obsessed about it, but movement was slow. I've taken the classes and laid the blueprint but stayed in the planning hoping stage. But it kept calling me,l burning me up inside. It's always on my mind and I've met many others along the way. I see their success and their failures. Timing is everything.  I realize that this is my season. 2020 cleared the path and blazed the way to changemy life's trajectory. Good connections are developing and technology is flourishing. Social media has expanded and is essential to marketing,  research and development.  I'm now excited about the future rather than allowing time to pass me by. Have you felt this way? Have you seen all the success stories? Have you noticed these people have been working their craft for 10, 20, 30 years but now reaping the rewards? Do you want that success for yourself? What is the work you're willing to do to get there? As I evolve, I try to share the journey with you. How can we work together to reach our goals? Share your comments below. Georgia Votes: Make A Difference

Did you hear the audio tape from the outgoing lame duck resident of the White House? I used to scoff at the millions spent on political campaigns. The salaries paid pale in comparison to the PAC money spent. Now I see that even "independent billionaires" can be overtaken by the power the Oval Office yields. This display of political pressure and electoral interference is appaling at best and criminal at worst. What I find more shocking is the number of Georgia residents who may not vote tomorrow. Reportedly, over 940,000 registered black voters DID NOT VOTE in November.  Now that the nation is squarely focused on the Peach State, it is still our opportunity to help them. Call and/or text anyone you know and ask if they voted early. If so, encourage them to call others. If not, make sure they have a plan to vote. If you're on the ground in GA, volunteer.  If outside GA, donate. So many celebrities have made appearances to support the right to cast ballots. DJs have gotten together to do a 50 hour marathon to get people to energize and exercise their right to vote. I choose to honor my ancestors who fought, bled, and died for our civil rights. I implore you to do the same. If you need more information, please visit www.pluse1.vote/ to learn more. Join in the process to chart our collective future. What can you think of doing? What's your plan to get it done? Looking forward to interacting once this is over. Until then,  thanks for stopping by.  Take Care and God Bless!!!
