Have you ever had someone lie to your face? I mean they really trying to dupe you out of something or "catfish" you into believing something is real. Con artists will stop at nothing to obtain the goal of victimizing unsuspecting people. From get rich quick to vote for me and I will lobby your cause, trickery takes all forms. So how do you avoid becoming a target? By voicing your opinions. Vote. Be seen. Be heard. Follow your dreams and heart's desires. Silence is associated with shame, guilt, and regret. Cons bank on this to keep their victims quiet.....and so do politicians. Elected officials listen to those who donate, cast their ballots, and make it to town hall meetings. Public servants form public policy based on what they hear the most about. As a society, we must exercise our rights and use them for the greater good. I affect change by using the opportunity to vote to make things better for those to come. We build these things for generations to come. Level up. Vibe higher. Teach these values to them so they'll appreciate it. What good is living the purple life if you can't spread it over to those coming up behind you. So what have you done thus far? Early Birding
"That's so cliche" is what people will tell you. Yet, they understand what you're saying, and feel compelled to give their opinions (because its never just one). My particular favorite is "the early bird gets the worm". Part nature, part nurture, this familiar phrase clarifies the need to prepare. Does life just happen to a lazy bird? Is it always bad luck for the angry bird? Whatever happened to the slow bird? You don't know because you figure its karma...comeuppance...got what they deserved. However, the early bird gets things accomplished by doing things methodically and effortlessly with natural rhythm. Luck= Opportunity + Preparation!!! So how is this unfolding in our lives today? Early voting is happening across this nation and we march to the polls. I on the other hand have voted already. Took me all of 15 minutes to ensure my voice was heard and my ballot was cast. Lucky break? NOPE!!!Proper planning. Being successful in any venture will require hard work, fact finding, niche identification and supply of demand. Much like the quality of your life is a direct result of the education and experience of your youth. So the question becomes....are you an early bird? Or are you barely existing? So many of us are the latter which helps to explain some of the wealthiest 1% of the world. But we are waking up. We increase our understanding. And we continue to press for the mark of the high calling. Release yourself and allow your purpose to guide you to your best life. The purple life. So are you going to vote early? Coming Together
So I wasn't the only one. Today's headlines were filled with survivor stories. Eyewitnesses to the evil of last week came forward with their observations. It tugged at heart strings and wallet strings. Muslim communities raising funds for Jewish enclaves. White communities supporting innocent victims while exposing heinous perpetrators. Women standing for their rights and fighting for justice. We as a nation are coming together to make our society better. We are leveling up to our creed that all are created equal. This week's events have opened blinded eyes and muted mouths. Decency and civility are the order of the day that everyone is craving. Grassroot efforts are turning into full fledged movements. People are getting out to affect change. They aren't waiting for someone to come and save us. We are saving ourselves and future generations from making these same mistakes. More people are voting early as they want to ensure their voices are heard. Loud and clear. America will win and that's something to be proud of. How are you affecting change? Where did you cross the line? Or has your journey not reached that point? Share your comments below as we travel this road to our best life. The purple life. Thanks for stopping by. Racial Harmony
How do you define racial harmony? How do you explain the racial divide? Can we all just get along? I am shaken to my core with the news that has occurred in the past week. Mailing pipe bombs to political foes, threatening asylum seekers before they arrive here, killing innocent people at grocery stores and houses of worship. Seemingly, there was more coverage of a newscaster defending "blackface" for Halloween costumes. Where have we sunk to as a society? Where are the values we hold to be self evident? What will history say about this place and time? More importantly, what are we going to do about this? I started in the only way I knew how.....I VOTED!!! My vote matters as my voice matters. The time has ended for sitting on the side and letting others decide our fate. Our political leaders have lost their way, and they're taking us with them. I refuse to be complicit in this. History may not record my name, but it will recognize the fact that my actions led to a shift in our society. If we have true racial harmony, inclusion, and diversity, we will make this world a better place. We will all be equal and we could all enjoy life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am charting a new course which allows us to keep running for the mark of the high calling. Our journeys are colliding to fight the good fight of faith. We are going to free ourselves from this bondage and recreate the world around us. Our beliefs. Our ethics. Our morals. Reestablished by our collective sense of right and wrong as we continue to strive to live our best life. The purple life. How has this week's events affected you? What are you planning to do? Deliberations
The universe is reigning down on us....especially in Chicago. Friday, Oct 6th, a guilty verdict was handed down in a murder by cop case. Saturday, Oct 7th, a SCOTUS candidate was voted in even with several serious sexual assault allegations against him. Sunday, Oct 8th, was the Annual marathon that brings worldwide participation and celebration. Each of these events were planned out by opposing parties. Each of these events made history. Each of these events involved deliberations. Careful thought was given by the jury. Political leaders made several exchanges to obtain their vote for this "judge". Runners came in droves, determined that their team would be represented. The world revolves around deliberations. We must get out all possible outcomes to get to the truth of the matter. We must evaluate all evidence before reconciling the matter. And we must move forward to gain the rewards attached to ending the situation that has been thoroughly vetted. I don't know what the future holds, but I do know who holds my future. I put my faith, trust, and hope in God as He navigates this thing called life. I aspire to live the best life....the purple life. I strive to be in God's will as He has a plan for my life. I often move as He would have me move deliberately and with purpose. He has the vision, and He's made it plain. Have you aligned your will with His? Have you noticed the difference in your results? How are you doing on your journey? Share your comments below. In loving memory
Today is that day for me. Seven years ago my beloved mother died at 3am. My life was forever changed in that moment. Every single night I awaken at 3am.....even when on vacation in different parts of the world. Every. Single. Night. For seven years. I've tried to explain it away but my heartbreak won't let me. She is my rock and the firm foundation she built is what I stand on. I thank God that He allowed me to be raised by this earth angel. Now she's in Heaven in God's army. Mom was a teacher so she encouraged the curious nature of mine. Reading was my escape and my fascination. She recognized these gifts and helped them flourish. I think about the things she taught, but mostly her love of Jesus. He healed her. He saved her. And He saved a wretch like me. I'm going to live the best life possible because she expected nothing less. Mom even learned to love purple as much as I do. I am the Diva because I was raised by a Queen. So who motivates you? Who planted the seeds for you to grow? Are your works flourishing? Or will they be buried with you in the grave? I think on these things often which keeps me motivated. How about you? Alma Mater
So where do we begin? I mean, when you want to make a change how do you start? And what's the end goal? Mom was a teacher so it always leads me back to school. Sometimes we must put our noses to the grindstone. Often, we can learn valuable lessons from those who are already doing it. Our alumni association has events twice yearly. I find this a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with my peers and make great connections in the process. Last week was especially exciting as many new staff and directors were announced. Having a chance to see their new direction gave me a chance to refocus mine....and save several thousands along the way. Are you using all your resources? Are there others who can mentor you to personal and professional success? Can they save you from making the mistakes they made? Everyone has a story to tell. So what's yours?
